TREE CLIMBING ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT

"Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago." ( Warren Buffet, American Investment Entrepreneur )

The countryside in Britain, and certainly on the island, would be a sorry place without our trees. They are integral to the landscape , each unique in form and character. If only the trees could talk, just think what they might say about how the world has changed around them. They provide us with shelter, warmth, building material and sustenance.

Climbing trees is something we (hopefully) have all experienced in our childhood. It's a combination of achievement, doing something slightly risky and coming into close contact with nature at its most glorious.

Goodleaf tree climbing gives all members of the family the chance to re-discover the world from the viewpoint of a tree in safe environment. It's one thing to be taking a trudge through woodland surrounded by trunks, quite another to be moving through the branches, smelling the fresh wood and discovering new things, such as tree flowers, insects and muscles you never knew existed.

Goodleaf Tree Climbing Adventures is run by Abigail and Paul. Paul has been climbing trees professionally for over 7 years as a qualified arborist (I wonder how many others have tree climbing as a profession) and has worked in New Zealand, Australia & the UK.

How many other truly exhilarating activities happen just using PP (or person power!)? No noisy engines, no intrusive neighbours, just you, a challenge and the tree for company (well, and the rest of your party, Paul, safety harnesses, helmets etc). After swinging and straining your way to the top, taking in the vista around you, remarking how wonderful nature is and making that descent to the ground, you will bring to an end your arboricultural experience with a gastronomic one, by way of a luxury picnic hamper stuffed with local goodies.

When asked 'what did you do on holiday?' You can answer 'just hanging around really - in a TREE!!' A truly unforgettable holiday experience.

"Today I have grown taller from walking with the trees" ( Karl Baker )
