AUTUMN / WINTER UPDATE

Well I guess I should begin with an apology as I have not managed to update the site in a long while. The reasons for this are down to Food! Well Isle of Wight produced food to be exact! I have been working with a group of producers on the Island to try and establish a local food organisation, to look at resolving some of the major issues associated with supplying/sourcing local food.

Anyhow to cut a long story short this is now moving forward, there are over 100 registered food related businesses involved, we have a programme coordinator in place and so look out for major changes in Island food over the next few months!

Returning to the main job in hand; making the Island's tourism industry more sustainable, that too has been moving forward rapidly. We now have a brand new criteria that we are planning to launch in early December, over the past 3 years of running the scheme we have found that certain areas are inadequate, some things are now obsolete and it generally needed making much tighter.

We have some great new members including Dean Farm, Godshill Park Farm, Bonchurch Manor, Snowdon Hotel, Athol Court, Hogdown & the Hambledon Hotel. Their individual Green Island pages should be viewable over the next week or so. This takes the overall membership to 100+ businesses; we are planning a major recruitment drive during early December so this could easily top 150 by the New Year (hopefully!). More info to follow...
