TRAVELLING AROUND THE ISLAND

The Island is only 27 miles across and is 72 miles in circumference so nowhere is ever that far to travel. Southern Vectis, our 75 year-old bus company offers a comprehensive service to all corners of the Island, there are trains twice an hour running from Ryde through to Shanklin, there are 500 miles of footpaths to explore and ample county lanes and trails to discover by bike.

If you are bringing your car we do recommend that you leave it onsite and travel the Island via a more environmentally sensitive method, the Island roads during the summer can be very congested and are not of the quality expected on the mainland, so it is not advisable to bring your new Ferrari as it may be ground-out by the numerous pot holes and semi-tracks we call roads here on the Island!!! Actually that sounds a little harsh; they are more 'rustic' or 'rural' in nature!
