The Quay Arts Centre is the
Isle of Wight's leading art gallery and venue for
live arts events. It is situated in a converted 19th
Century brewery warehouse complex pleasantly located
at the head of the River Medina in the centre of
Newport.
Facilities at the complex include 3 galleries (showcasing
a regularly changing programme of visual arts sourced
not only from the Island but also from mainland and
international artists), a 134 capacity theatre, a Crafts
Council-listed gallery shop, a popular licensed arts
café with a reputation for serving some of the
best home-cooked vegetarian food on the Island and
numerous workshop spaces and meeting rooms.
The Quay's theatre, named after Island-born Oscar-winning
director Anthony Minghella, has a varied programme
of live events including professional touring comedy,
world music, folk, jazz, blues, small scale theatre
and children's shows.
The Quay also owns and operates a
workshop complex, The Jubilee Stores, which is home
to its participatory arts programme containing seven
privately-let artist studios as well as state-of-the-art
ceramics and printmaking suites.
