All Saints Church at Godshill
is said to be the most photographed church in the
Country. You can see why when you approach Godshill
and see the medieval building watching over the surrounding
land. Parts of the building are dated from around
the 14th Century and the grounds are a place of Special
Scientific Interest.
Inside the church you can see the
medieval wall painting of the ‘lily cross’,
unique in this country. The churchyard even has the
tomb of a crusader. The churchyard is managed for the
benefit of wildlife. Some very rare species of moss
and invertebrates have been found here. Details of
local walk have been printed up for visitors to use,
which give an insight into the history of Godshill.
