Set in 10 acres of stunning
rural landscape, Calbourne Water Mill contains one
of the oldest working water mills in the country,
dating back to the Domesday Book.
Grinding the flour the 'old fashion
way', using only the power of water, Calbourne Water
Mill produces several tons of flour each year, supplying
many shops across the Island, as well as delivering
flour to the mainland, and of course, selling bags
of flour directly to customers.
As well as a café, gift shop
and a number of 'little' rural museums, displaying
a selection of memorabilia from a bygone age, such
as Granma's kitchen, Granfer's Shed, Dairy, Launderette,
Fire Station, and Old Bakery, the Mill also boasts
a wide range of activities from an 18-hole putting
green and punts on the Mill Pond, to a bouncy galleon
for children. Calbourne Mill is a great site for wildlife
and offers everything you could need for the perfect
day out.
