As their marketing says – ‘Shop
Local – Save the Planet’. Briddlesford
Lodge Farm Shop is situated on a dairy farm that
produces unpasturised milk form its own Guernsey
herd. Their purchasing policy means that the foods
you find there will be sourced as locally as possible,
much of which is grown in the immediate area.
As well as milk, eggs, meat and other
fresh foods, the shop also sells different delicatessens,
such as chutneys and jams and juices. It even sells
hay for your guinea pigs. The procurement policy ensures
that the food is seasonal, fresh and has travelled
as few food miles as possible to get to the shelves.
There are also Fair Trade beverages for sale.
Located on a farm gives you the opportunity
to meet some of the farm animals. The farm shop promotes
British farming to adults and children alike as well
as healthy eating. If you really want to ‘shop
local’, be inspired towards your 5 a day and
get the chance to see exactly where your food comes
from, this is the ideal place to go.
